Kinkaid Getaway Lodge Fun Area Links 2022
- Kinkaid Lake Marina
Resting on the tranquil southeast shore of Kinkaid Lake, nestled into the rolling hills of the Shawnee National Forest, Kinkaid Marina has everything you need for that enjoyable lake get away! - Shawnee National Forest
There are many miles of diverse hiking and backpacking trails in the Shawnee National Forest including the 160-mile River to River Trail. Take extra precautions during hunting seasons by wearing bright orange clothing. It is a good idea to carry a compass and map. Forest streams do not meet the safety standards for drinking water. We recommend taking your drinking water with you. National Forest ownership is interspersed with privately-owned lands. Respect the rights of private land owners by staying on public lands. Hikers should yield to equestrians. Moving off the trail to the downhill side and talking with the rider will help keep from startling their horse.
Learning Center
Throughout the year, the Shawnee National Forest works to educate the public on our natural resources and their management. Through a variety of programs the Forest’s goal is to connect people with their natural surroundings in order to build a sense of stewardship for the land.Educational topics include non-native invasive species, wilderness, trails, forestry, protection of heritage resources, wetland restoration, aquatic ecosystems, wildlife, outdoor safety and the mission of the Forest Service. National education programs are also promoted such as Smokey Bear and Wildfire Prevention, Woodsy Owl and Land Stewardship and the Leave No Trace curriculum in classroom visits, school field trips, and public interpretive programs throughout the year at fairs, recreation sites and other large events. For more information or to request a program, contact Linda Hauser.Getting into the great outdoors to enjoy your national forest is a lot of fun. Before venturing outdoors be sure to visit the Outdoor Safety & Ethics Page for tips on how to prepare for a safe and enjoyable visit.
